Commonly programming languages are classified in to three types

• Procedural Programming Language
• Functional Programming Language
• Object Oriented Programming Language

For a beginner to start with programming , I recommend "C" language.

It's powerful and easy to understand too...

if you are good at C then you can master other Languages also.
